Intramural Questions
and Answers!
When does the Intramural season start?
The Intramural season starts on after the July 4th holiday. Specific start dates will be posted on our Intramural page. Your child's coach will let you know 1-2 weeks before the season regarding when and where the first scheduled session will be held.

What time do Intramural practices/games start?
It depends on the league in which your child is registered. For more information, check our Intramural page. Your child's coach will let you know 1-2 weeks before the season regarding when and where the first scheduled session will be held.

Most sessions are comprised of both instruction time (training) and a game (scrimmage). It is extremely important that parents have their children on the field and ready by the start time. Delays in starting the session reduce the amount of time available to our coaches to instruct the children and also reduce the amount of time the kids get to scrimmage. In some leagues, it may also result in forfeiture of a game.

The club has given coaches authority to not start players in scrimmage (or to reduce their playing time) if they miss sessions, frequently show up late, or are disruptive.

Please let the coach know beforehand if your child will be late or absent from a session.

Where will my child’s team meet to play?
It depends on the league in which your child is registered. For more information, check our Intramural page. Your child's coach will let you know 1-2 weeks before the season regarding when and where the first scheduled session will be held.

When will we know what team my child has been assigned to?
The parent/guardian of each player should receive a phone call and/or e-mail from the child’s coach letting them know what team the player is on, the schedule and location for training/games, and what equipment to bring. If you have not heard from a coach by 1 week prior to the start of the season, please contact the applicable League Manager or the Intramural Program Director.

What equipment do I need to buy?
Players are required to wear shin guards and to bring an appropriately sized soccer ball and cold drink to each practice. The U6 and U8 leagues use a size 3 ball; the U10 and U12 leagues use a size 4 ball; and the U15 and U18 leagues use a size 5 ball.

Cleats are not required. Your child's coach will provide you with more details before the first session. Equipment can be purchased at most sporting goods stores. You can also order online through the soccer.com link on our web site (our club receives a portion of any purchases made through this link).

We recommend parents not spend too much on equipment (comfort is more important!) Kids quickly outgrow shin guards and cleats and often lose soccer balls (please have your child write his name on the ball). For players under 8 years old, sneakers are just fine.

What is Soccer Day?
Soccer Day is the culminating event of the Intramural Program's season. For 2009 the event is scheduled for Saturday, September 12th (for U6 and U8 leagues) and Sunday, September 13th (for U10 through U18 leagues). Come join the fun with over 1,150 players on 120 teams showcasing their soccer talents while competing for fun. Check our Soccer Day page for more details.

I have a problem with my son's coach. Who can I talk to about this?
We always recommend first talking to the coach directly (but please not during the practice, scrimmage, or after-game wrap-up). Coaches want to know your concerns before they become problems. Please just ask the coach when a good time to talk would be.

All our coaches volunteer their time and energy to help make your child's soccer experience extremely positive. However, we understand disagreements and misunderstandings sometimes arise. While coaches have a great deal of flexibility in implementing their practices, they are also bound by the club's policies and rules.

If, after discussing the situation with your child's coach, you still don't feel the issue has been resolved, please contact your child's League Manager or the Intramural Program Director.
