Jim Curtin, who has played professionally for the last 10 years in the MLS with the Chicago Fire and Chivas USA, has joined the HFC training staff. Among his other many accomplishments in soccer, Jim was a starter on the 2004 MLS All-Star team.

The Uniroyal^® Free Soccer Ball Giveaway and Fundraiser for Harleysville Soccer Association begins on Saturday February 6, 2010. You can get a FREE soccer ball by simply printing the attached web certificate and taking it to Bergey’s Tire & Auto Service Center on Route 113 in Franconia, PA. The program runs until March 7th or until all of the soccer balls are claimed (whichever comes first).

In addition to the free soccer ball, you will also be eligible to receive an exclusive mail-in rebate offer on a set of Michelin^®, BFGoodrich^® or Uniroyal^® tires from Bergey’s. For each Uniroyal tire sold at Bergey’s during the one-month program, Uniroyal will donate $2 to the Harleysville Soccer Association. Registration for the summer 2010 season for Harleysville Soccer League will begin in March. We will offer both online and walk-in registration options. Further details will be posted on the web site once the details are finalized.

The HFC Premier U15 Boys team lost a heartbreaker in a terrific final against Casa Capa (Harrisburg). The final score was 4-3 in OT. Congratulations to the team on reaching the State Cup finals!

After a 1-1 tie with the South Brunswick (NJ) Hurricanes the boys cranked things up with a 2-0 win over the West Jersey Comets to advance to the playoff round. In the Group ’A’ semifinal, they defeated Liberty Elite, FC Titans (NJ) 3-0 to advance to the championship final. In a thrilling match under the lights, Harleysville FC Premier defeated the ESA Eagles (NJ)  2-1 to win the 2-day tournament in Howell, NJ.

The Harleysville U16 Tournament Select team won the Hulmeville tournament over the weekend of 12/5, including a great game in near blizzard conditions on Saturday afternoon. The boys had a blast. Congrats to all the players on the team as well as Coach Alex Krail, and many thanks to the player families for all of their support this season!

Although the team did not make the finals they defeated the 3^rd ranked team in PA (PSC Coppa) as well as the NY state champion and eventual tournament champion (Manhattan Ajax) to move up to the 3^rd ranked team in PA, 15^th in the region, and 38^th in the NATION!
